A new study published in the academic journal "Nature-Medicine" has pointed out that the risk of cardiovascular disease complications may increase from one month to one year after contracting the new coronavirus

The results come from researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St.

The researchers found that the incidence of heart disease was 4 percent higher among people with COVID-19 than among those without

Although the cohort of COVID-19 infections was dominated by older white men, the researchers observed that the risk of cardiovascular disease complications was "significant" across age, race and gender

The results of the analysis pointed out that for people with a higher risk of heart disease before contracting the new crown, such as obesity, smoking, high blood pressure, and diabetes, the new crown will amplify the risk

But more notably, people who have never had any heart problems in the past and are considered to be at low risk of heart disease also develop heart problems after contracting the new crown

Compared with the control group, people with Covid-19 were 72% more likely to develop coronary artery disease, 63% more likely to have a myocardial infarction, and 52% more likely to have a stroke
