    The Eurasian Grid Interconnection Project has launched a tender to build a total of 2,000 megawatts
    connecting Cyprus, Crete, Attica, Israel and the rest of Europe.

    At present, the invitation to tender has been issued, which includes converter stations, three cable systems connecting the above-mentioned countries and regions, with a total value of more than 3 billion euros
    .

    The first target, valued at EUR 1.
    02 billion, includes the design, manufacture, testing, supply installation and commissioning
    of the Eurasian Interconnected HVDC converter station and four subsea electrodes.
    Attica, Crete, Cyprus and Israel will each build a converter station and an undersea electrode
    .
    The remaining targets include the design, manufacture, testing, supply and installation of high-voltage DC submarine cables and land cables, with a total length of about 1,500 kilometers
    .
    The first cable tender is Link1, which aims to connect Israel and Cyprus, with a length of approximately 310 kilometers and a depth of up to 2,200 meters under the sea, with a total value of 440 million euros
    .

    The second tender for the cable, Link2, aims to connect Cyprus and the Greek island of Crete, with a total value of 1.
    27 billion euros, a total length of about 895 kilometers and a depth of up to 2,960 meters
    under the sea.

    The last cable tender is Link3, which aims to connect the Greek island of Crete and Attica and includes a high-voltage DC submarine cable and a terrestrial cable, with a total length of about 336 km and a depth of up to 1200 m
    under the sea.

    The project aims to end the energy isolation of Crete, the largest island in Cyprus and Greece, ensure regional energy security and establish energy corridors
    for Europe and the eastern Mediterranean.

    EU projects (PCI) of common interest are eligible for aid funding of up to 50% of the total construction costs of EU institutions such as CEF and EIB
    .
    The European Commission has expressed its support for the project, noting that despite the uncertainty generated by the Greek company ADMIE Power Grid, the overall project EuroAsia Interconnector remains on
    the PCI project list.

    According to the plan, the grid interconnection system connecting Crete-Attica in Greece is planned to be put into use in 2022, and the grid interconnection system connecting Crete-Cyprus is scheduled to be put into use
    in 2023.
