4 ways to evaluate the fire retardant performance of cables:
1.
Standard test method for non-ignitious combustion of a single cable
A section of single cable under test is suspended in a dedicated burner, the flame temperature acting on the cable reaches a certain value (exceeding the ignition temperature), and after a few minutes, the ignition source is removed, and then the test cable is observed to extinguish
itself.
2.
Material oxygen index method
Put a certain number of test samples into a special container, fill it with nitrogen, gradually fill it with oxygen, and ignite it in a prescribed way under different oxygen content, so that the oxygen content of the material in the container is called the oxygen index
of the material when the test material is burned smoothly.
3.
Cable penetration hole flame retardant assessment standard test method
The United States, the Soviet Union, Japan, and various countries have formulated standard test methods for the flame retardancy of plugging materials used in cable penetration holes.
"Time-temperature" change speed heating acts on the plugging treatment method of the furnace wall through the cable at one end of the test cable, and after 1-3h heating, observe that the master of the cable section outside the furnace is not combustible or intact to determine the flame resistance characteristics of
the plugging material.
4.
Standard test method for flame resistance of bundled cables
The basic principle is the same
as the standard test method for non-ignitious combustion of a single cable.
Domestic wire and cable factories have built a complete set of test devices
modeled on IEC382-2 new standards and IEEC-383 and ICS-366 standards.
And organized the test of simulated cable tunnel, cable shaft and cable mezzanine, and obtained relatively reliable test data
