The reproductive medicine cryogenic team led by Cao Yunxia, a professor at Anhui Medical University, has found that melatonin can improve the freezing effect of human ovaries by inhibiting oxidative damage and maintaining the permeability of the egg cell membrane, marking a new breakthrough in the freezing and preservation of human eggs. The results were published online in the journal Pineal Research.
melatonin is mainly secreted by pineal glands and is a broad-spectrum, high-efficiency antioxidant that promotes the development of immature ovarian cells in the ultra-promoting ovulation cycle. However, little research has been reported on whether melatonin promotes the freezing effect of human ovarian cells and their molecular mechanisms.
Anhui Medical University researchers by establishing an efficient antioxidant human ovary ovary technology, obviously inhibited the egg in the process of freezing and thawing suffering from low temperature damage, effectively maintain the quality of frozen eggs, and achieve good development results. By detecting mitochondrial function, microstructivity, ovary membrane permeability, developmental ability and molecular mechanism of human ovary cells after freezing and thawing, they found that melatonin can improve the freezing effect of human ovaries by inhibiting oxidative damage and maintaining ovary membrane permeability. This technical system provides the basis for the establishment of human egg bank and is also an important breakthrough in human assisted reproductive technology.
Cao Yunxia said that in recent years, human egg freezing technology has been widely concerned, the results of which explore the impact of melatonin on the development potential of human ovaries after freezing and thawing and its molecular mechanism, for the establishment of a safe and efficient human egg cryopreseration technology system to provide a new technology and theoretical basis, and promote the practical application of human egg cryoprestalment technology, has great social significance.
