It is reported that the man has previously experienced symptoms
such as dry throat and itching, fever, and red rash and pustules on his right ankle.
On September 16, his clinical samples were sent to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention for qPCR testing, and the whole genome was sequenced based on BGI's latest gene sequencer
and other equipment.
The genetic sequencing results showed that the monkeypox virus infected by the man belonged to the B.
1 branch of the West African strain, which was highly consistent with the sequencing results of the Chongqing CDC and was highly homologous
with the strain found in Germany on June 21, 2022.

These results confirm that the case is the first imported monkeypox case in Chinese mainland and the fifth human case of monkeypox virus reported in China

Several other imported human cases of monkeypox virus were reported in Taiwan and Hong Kong SAR
