Australia's worst-affected state of Victoria declared a state of disaster Tuesday night, upgrading prevention and control measures and imposing a curfew on the state capital, Melbourne.
Premier Daniel Andrews announced that Melbourne has upgraded its outbreak prevention and control measures since Tuesday night, upgrading the third phase of the "home order" to a more stringent phase four prevention and control measure, which is expected to last until September 13.
at this stage, Melbourne has a daily curfew from 20 am to 5 am the next day, residents are not allowed to leave their homes for work, medical care, and public transport services are reduced, and each household is allowed to shop only one person a day, no more than 5km from their home, students will be studying distance from home, and the "mask order" continues, allowing people to wear masks or cover their noses when they go out with fabric.
Andrews also announced that the rest of Victoria will implement the third phase of prevention and control measures from June 6 , the "home order" is expected to last six weeks .
Andrews said the upgrade was due to health experts saying the current measures were too slow because the two figures were "too high" for community transmission and the number of cases that could not be traced.
in a disaster situation, the police will have more power to ensure that people comply with epidemic prevention measures.
the Australian Federal Ministry of Health released the outbreak data on the 2nd, as of 15 pm local time (Beijing time 2 at 13:00), the past 24 hours of new confirmed cases 687 cases, a cumulative total of 17923 confirmed cases, a cumulative death of 208 cases.
671 new cases came from Victoria and 123 of the deaths were from Victoria.
