    News Agency, Chengdu, August 11 (Reporter Yu Li) Sichuan Wolong National Nature Reserve Authority on the 10th released a new plant species - Barangshan Xuelian.

    The Kunming Plant Research Institute conducted morphological studies and DNA molecular analysis of the species, confirming that it is a new species, and according to the uniqueness of the distribution area, it was determined to be a unique species in Sichuan.
    Barang Mountain snow lily, the leaves are jagged; the leaves, or "lotus petals" of the snow lotus, are rarely black, with the edges cracked; the surface of the plant is covered with adenine and long hair; and the morphology is very different from other known species of snow lily, in addition to the pungent aroma of the species.

    separate surveys conducted by kunming Plant Research Institute and Wolong Sanctuary, the initial findings show that the distribution area is very narrow, conservatively estimated to be less than 500 plants. Based on extensive surveys of Sichuan West by plants, it has been confirmed that Mount Barron is the only source known to be of origin and that the snow lily is considered "critically endangered" by reference to IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) standards.

    of the Wolong National Nature Reserve Authority in Sichuan Province, said the Wolong Reserve had conducted a monitoring and investigation of the Snow Lotus in the Barang Mountains with a view to ascercer settping out the distribution of the species in the area and the specific population size as soon as possible, in preparation for the next step in formulating a reasonable conservation strategy. At present, the protected areas have taken corresponding control measures to reduce man-made interference and destruction.
