A new study is launched for all patients with colorectal cancer

The non-profit cancer research project "Count Me In" invites all patients in the United States and Canada who have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer to participate in research to help promote new discoveries related to this disease

The colorectal cancer project was launched at a time when people observed an increase in the incidence of colorectal cancer among young people

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.

According to the American Cancer Society, African Americans are about 20% more likely to develop colorectal cancer than most other ethnic groups, and are about 40% more likely to die from colorectal cancer

Inviting all colorectal cancer patients of any age, background or stage to join the project adds tremendous scientific value to the final data

"We still don't know why the incidence of colorectal cancer among young people has increased dramatically," said the co-director of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for Young Onset Colorectal Cancer and Gastrointestinal Cancer and the co-scientific leader of the colorectal cancer project.

The "Count Me In" research model also seeks to empower all cancer patients, including those from marginal communities historically excluded from research, no matter where they live, to contribute to groundbreaking cancer research
