    We used longitudinal data from the Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study , a community-based cohort of subjects with risk factors for knee OA .



    Subchondral cysts may be a secondary phenomenon rather than a primary trigger for radiographic knee OA , and may predict symptoms in knees with pre-existing disease .
