In order to implement the National Nutrition Plan (2017-2030) and promote early childhood nutrition improvement, the Nutrition Institute of the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention held a seminar on early childhood nutrition improvement in Beijing on December 17, 2020.
From the National Health Commission, the National Food Safety Risk Assessment Center, the Nutrition and Health Institute of the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the China Development Research Foundation, UNICEF, the World Food Programme, the Melinda Gates Foundation, the Song Qingling Foundation of China, the China Family Planning Association, the Chinese Welfare Foundation, the China Food Science and Technology Society, the Capital Paediatric Research Institute, the Henan Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital, the Xinmi City Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Henan Province, Da ning County, Yong he County and Shaanxi Province.
Director Ding Gangqiang of the Nutrition Institute presided over the meeting, Chen Junshi, Director of the Food Fortification Office of the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, analyzed the causes and harms of infant and young child nutrition in poor areas in his speech, introduced the role and effectiveness of nutrition package projects in children from scientific research to government implementation; With President Chen Chunming in Gansu and Yunnan, the history of early childhood nutrition intervention exploration, Director Xu Jie introduced the specific initiatives of the Nutrition Department of the Food Division of the Health and Wellness Commission to implement the National Nutrition Plan, as well as the nutrition health poverty alleviation projects and implementation experience in Jinshan Four Counties, Liu Wei researchers introduced the overall progress of the Health Care Commission's Department of Women and Children's Nutrition Improvement Projects for children in poor areas, noting in particular that the relevant work and projects will continue after the completion of the poverty eradication task in 2020.

meeting discussed the current nutrition problems of early childhood in China, nutrition projects and development strategies, and recommended promoting the successful experience of nutrition and health poverty alleviation, strengthening the construction of grass-roots nutrition team, and introducing China's experience as the largest developing country while learning from the advanced experience of various countries in the early childhood nutrition improvement work.
