    Online grocer OurPasar Essentials Pte Ltd was fined US$11,000 by the court today for storing meat and seafood in an unauthorized cold storage and storing raw meat for sale without a cooling device

    Muhammad Shafizan bin Saikh Abdul Kader, the company’s managing director, was also fined US$9,000 for failing to perform his duties to prevent crimes from occurring

    On February 9, 2021, officials from the Singapore Food Authority (SFA) discovered that the staff of OurPasar Essentials Pte Ltd was handling raw meat and seafood packages placed on the table without any refrigeration
    .
    Among them was a container containing raw chicken wings, which was exposed in the driveway outside the house

    Further investigation revealed that the company was storing meat and seafood in an unlicensed cold storage

    If any meat or seafood products are found hidden in unlicensed refrigerated stores for sale or supply, the offender is liable to a fine of up to US$50,000 or up to two years’ imprisonment upon conviction.
    A second or subsequent conviction can result in a fine of up to $100,000 or up to three years in prison

    Storing raw meat for sale without a cooler also brings food safety risks
    .
    Offenders who store raw meat for sale without a refrigerator can be fined up to US$2,000 upon conviction
    .
    If the offenders continue to commit the crime, they will be fined up to 100 US dollars per day or less than one day during the period after they are convicted
    .
