Plants perceive and respond to a variety of signaling molecules through receptor proteins on the surface of their cells, and receptor kinase (RK) is the dominant component of plant cell receptors.
receptor kinases consist of extracellular domains responsible for sensing signals, single transmembrane domains, and intracellular kinase domains.
plant receptor kinases coordinate growth and development processes by sensing a variety of endogenous hormones and peptide signals, such as BRI1, which identifies canola-enders and regulates growth and development.
receptor kinases are also able to sense and respond to various disease invasions and abiotic stressenvironments in the natural environment, such as FLS2 by identifying pathogenic bacterial whiplash proteins and activating plant immune responses.
plant cells have a large number of cytoplasmic receptor kinase (Receptor-like Cytoplasmic Kinase, RLCK) family proteins, which are very similar to the intracellular domain of receptor kinases but lack extracellular domains. More and more studies
found that cytoplasmic receptor kinases and receptor kinases combine to achieve the regulation of downstream signaling pathways through phosphorylation relay, which is the core hub of receptor kinase regulation of cell activity.
Zhou Jianmin, institute of genetics and developmental biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has been studying plant immune receptor kinases for a long time, focusing on the regulation and function of cytoplasmic receptor kinases in the immune signaling pathway.
Zhou Jianmin was recently invited to write in the Annual Review of Plant Biology entitled Panel-Cytoplasmic Kinases: Central Players in The Plant, Centre Players, Coaching Kinase-Mediated Signaling (DOI: 10.1146/annurev-arplant-042817-0 40540), a detailed summary of plant cytoplasmic receptor kinase family mediated multiple receptor kinase signal conduction related research, cytoplasmic receptor kinase biological function, activity and stability regulation mechanism, regulation of downstream cell activity and receptor kinase pathway-specific control mechanism, and proposed the future research of cytoplasmic receptor kinase and receptor kinase.
Zhou Jianmin is the author of the paper communication, Liang Xiangxiu co-author of the paper.
the work was funded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the National Key Laboratory of Plant Genomics.
