ABB today supplied Virgin Voyages' new fleet with a complete power and propulsion package
    .
The original Virgin Voyages vessel, due to be delivered in 2020, will be the first of three innovative vessels designed and built with environmental responsibility
    in mind.

It was revealed that each of the 110,000-ton ships will be equipped with ABB's latest propulsion unit, a gearless steerable propulsion system with electric drive motors located in
    submerged pods outside the hull.
The new propulsion unit has become the industry standard in the cruise industry and has been proven to reduce fuel consumption by up to 15%
compared to traditional axis propulsion systems.

"Making Virgin Voyages environmentally sustainable is at the heart of our vision, and we are pleased that ABB's new propulsion unit will help us achieve this goal
," said Virgin Voyages' Senior Vice President, Marine and Technical Operations.
Combined with excellent maneuverability, this is a natural choice
    for our vessels.

The President of ABB's Industrial Automation Division said, "The new electric propulsion system, which does not represent innovation and efficiency like other propulsion systems, is fundamental
to our vision for electric, digital and connected shipping.
Based on 25 years of experience and development, ABB's new propulsion technology continues to lead ships into the future of e-mobility, consolidating our commitment to
technologies with superior performance, reliability, safety and environmental performance.
