On March 24, according to foreign media reports, AbbVie alleged in a new lawsuit filed in Illinois that Alvotech recruited its former manufacturing executive Rongzan Ho, with the purpose of stealing secrets manufactured by Xiu Mei Le.
Humira is the most sold magic drug in the world.
An Alvotech representative stated that the company "strongly opposes" these allegations and will actively defend it.
AbbVie's lawsuit alleges that after being recruited by Alvotech, Rongzan Ho transferred "confidential and proprietary" information to a personal email account before leaving AbbVie.
When AbbVie contacted Alvogen about the alleged theft, the biosimilar manufacturer did not deny that Rongzan Ho was developing a generic version of its Humira.
This is not the only case where a biosimilar manufacturer has stolen trade secrets.
In addition to the Roche Genentech theft, Amgen stated in 2017 that Coherus recruited employees to obtain Neulasta technology.
At the same time, as AbbVie competes with Alvotech in court, the company is also working to increase sales of its new products Skyrizi and Rinvoq.
