ACCIONA GREEN ENERGY DEVELOPMENT, A SUBSIDIARY OF THE ACCIONA GROUP, HAS BECOME THE LARGEST RETAILER
OF ELECTRICITY FROM 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY IN SPAIN, ACCORDING TO STATISTICS FROM RELEVANT INSTITUTIONS.
Law No.
3 of 2013 attributed the management of the Origin Assurance System (GdO) to CNMC.
At the request of stakeholders, this is a voluntary mechanism that certifies that a certain amount of electricity
from renewable sources or efficient cogeneration has been obtained, similar to renewable energy certificates in other European countries.
The report, approved on April 5 by the CNMC Regulatory Court, once again confirms that all the sources of energy that ACCIONA Green offers to its customers are 100% renewable, since it has sufficient guarantees
of origin.
In addition, the energy comes from the Group's own renewable energy facilities
.
According to the report, ACCIONA Green offers a total of 5,309 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity to customers in Spain free of charge with a guarantee
of origin.
This figure represents 16.
4% of the electricity
supplied to Spanish customers with this guarantee.
It also transfers 964 GWh under the guarantee of origin regime to energy retailers in other EU member states, a possibility
envisaged in the legislation.
"Corporate customers increasingly require energy from certified renewable raw materials to comply with their sustainability policies and reduce their carbon footprint, giving us a competitive advantage in a
more sensitive market in the fight against climate change," said the ACCIONA Green Director.
