On May 6, Acoma announced that it had selected a new world-class plant on Jurong Island, Singapore, focusing on the production of amino acid monomers and their flagship polyamide 11 resins. In July 2017, Akoma announced that it would expand PA11's global production capacity by 50% to support strong demand for high-performance bio-based solutions from its Asian customers, particularly in the lightweight materials sector.
Akoma chose Jurong Island, Singapore, to build a new bio-based polyamide production site based on Jurong Island's many advantages in infrastructure, logistics, industrial integration and operational excellence, as well as the optimization of the carbon footprint associated with production activities here
Acoma polyamide11, derived from castor oil, is the only 100% bio-based polyamide material certified for many of the most demanding applications, including electronics, 3D printing, oil and gas extraction, and the automotive market, to replace metal parts.
the project is part of a special investment earmarked by the Group to total approximately EUR 500 million between 2018 and 2021. The plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
