Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has announced plans to build a new steam cracker in Ruwes to more than double the chemical capacity of the Taziz Chemical Park
.
ADNOC said in a statement that feasibility studies for the project are underway and will enter the design phase
in the first quarter of 2023.
At the recent Abu Dhabi International and Oil Conference & Exhibition (ADIPEC), Taghiz Chemical Park, Sino Honest and Shaheen, a private UAE company, signed a joint venture agreement for the project, with a total investment of more than US$2 billion

Mheiri said Taqiz is accelerating plans to
expand chemical production in the next phase, as a key driver of the UAE's industrial development and manufacturing growth ambitions.
According to the statement, the site is expected to produce 940,000 tons of chlor-alkali, 1.
1 million tons of ethylene dichloride and 360,000 tons of polyvinyl
chloride per year.
