Boron compounds containing BO bonds have unique properties and play an important role in chemistry and materials science

Recently, the team of Professor Li Chenghui from Nanjing University designed and synthesized a novel cyclic strain-variable boronate ester (BN-6) constructed from thermosensitive BN coordination bonds

    Figure 1.

【Molecular Design and Research on Stability and Dynamics】

This work utilizes thermally responsive BN coordination to dynamically tune the ring size and strain of boron ester molecules, and proposes a novel boron ester design concept

    Figure 2.

The dynamic exchange of BN-6 with phenylboronic acid (PBA), BN-5 and PBA was firstly investigated by variable temperature 1H NMR

    Figure 3.

    【Dynamic cross-linked polymer with BN-6 bond】

To verify that the designed hydrolytically stable but dynamically reversible boron-ester bonds can improve the water resistance of self-healing polymers, we introduced small molecules BN-6 and BN-5 into the dynamic cross-linked network

To test the water resistance of dynamically crosslinked polymers, the researchers soaked TBN5-1.

    Figure 4.

    【Preparation and Characterization of BN-6 Based Adhesives】

Based on the above studies on small molecules and model dynamic cross-linked polymers, the designed boron ester BN-6 as a bond has superior water stability

    Figure 5.

    【summary】

In summary, the researchers developed a new strong adhesive PTBN6 based on the well-designed boron ester BN-6, which showed excellent adhesion on different substrates, even under water.
