Launched in April this year, one of the main points on AMDA's agenda is working with donors, governments and other stakeholders to develop a results-based financing (RBF) fund to help microgrids scale.

According to AMDA's white paper, microgrid facilities are the best way to expand the power system and should play a central role
in any method of subsidizing private companies in Africa.
Through such facilities, companies that develop projects that connect customers to electricity receive a fixed discount on each connection installation to reduce the capital cost
of the project.
AMD noted that while there are currently several RBF programs for mini-grids, most are limited
by a complex evaluation and approval process.
According to its white paper, AMDA member companies developing PV grids have received approximately $1.

since 2011.
