At the closing ceremony of the Public Open Day held by the International Association of Chemical Manufacturers (AICM) in Shanghai on December 9th, representatives of many multinational chemical companies conducted discussions on carbon emission reduction, carbon peaking and sustainable development strategies

Limbo, vice chairman of the AICM board of directors and president of WACKER Greater China, said that dual carbon does mean a lot of challenges to the chemical industry

Faced with the globalization of the dual-carbon concept and bringing new market opportunities to the industry, global multinational companies have put forward ambitious carbon emission reduction targets to accelerate their transformation

Unlike developed countries in Europe and the United States that achieved carbon peaks early and planned to achieve carbon neutrality in about 70 years, China has only been from carbon peaks to carbon neutrality in just 30 years.

In recent years, AICM has been committed to promoting the sustainable development of chemical companies, including not only multinational companies, but also local Chinese companies

AICM director, Clariant’s global vice president, China and Asia Pacific region president Wang Anting said that AICM regards the public open day event as an important platform to promote responsible care

Wan Lifan, chairman of ExxonMobil (China) Investment Co.

The Central Economic Work Conference clearly stated that it is necessary to correctly understand and grasp the peak of carbon and carbon neutrality

Sun Lihong, President of Greater China of Solvay Investment Co.

Limbaugh also said that in Europe, carbon neutrality does not mean economic shrinkage, but means innovation-driven, building a green energy system, and a more environmentally friendly and green industry future

“China’s energy structure is rich in coal, poor in oil and less in gas.
