Alert! Human cases of H5N8 avian influenza have been detected in Russia for the first time

On February 20th Anna Popova, head of the Russian Federation's Consumer Protection and Public Interest Supervision Agency, said scientists had detected the first case of the H5N8 avian influenza virus spreading to humans and had alerted the World Health Organization.
