Beijing, November 20, 2013 – Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced four best-in-class intellectual property (IP) cores to its MegaCore IP library, further enhancing its IP core family
.
These new best-in-class IP cores include ultra-high performance and ultra-low latency 100G Interlaken, 100G Ethernet, 40G Ethernet, and 10G Ethernet IP
.
Cores are optimized for the industry's best performance, lowest latency, and lowest resource usage
.
Data center and network equipment developers can take advantage of these common solutions to increase system bandwidth while highlighting the benefits of
the end system.
Interlaken and Ethernet IP cores, as well as other standard interface IPs, are now available, fully supported
by the latest version of Quartus II software v13.
1.
David Kehlet, vice president of IP design at Altera, commented, "Our focus on innovation breaks down traditional design barriers while reducing latency, improved performance, and reduced resource usage, setting a new standard
for best practice for high-performance IP core design.
Since then, these best practices will continue to be presented to our customers as we continue to
release redesigned IP cores.
”
All IPs of the MegaCore IP library are validated and demonstrated
in silicon.
The IP core timing margin is increased by 15%, resulting in faster timing closure and faster integration of multiple IP cores into
designs.
The new Interlaken and Ethernet IP cores are optimized for better use in Altera's high-performance Stratix V FPGAs and future 10th generation FPGAs and
SoCs.
Customers can now use these best-in-class IP cores
in 20nm Arria 10 FPGAs through the Early Software Trial Program.
New IP cores in the MegaCore IP library include:
Low Latency 100G Interlaken IP Core – This best-in-class IP core uses a soft-core PCS with less than 200ns
round-trip latency.
Low Latency 100G Ethernet IP Core – This best-in-class IP core is the smallest 100G Ethernet core, 55% smaller than existing 100G Ethernet IP cores, with round-trip latency of less than 160ns and latency 70% lower than competing 100G Ethernet IP cores, all of which are industry-leading
.
Low latency 40G Ethernet IP cores – 40% smaller and 60%
lower latency than existing 40G Ethernet IP cores.
Low latency 10G Ethernet IP cores – 20% smaller and 24%
lower latency than existing 10G Ethernet IP cores.
Availability Information
Altera's best-in-class IP cores
are currently available in the form of the company's MegaCore function IP library.
Customers can now use the IP library
by downloading Quartus II Software v13.
