Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has gained a lot of attention in clinical practice as a minimally invasive injection therapy for knee osteoarthritis (OA)
A total of 192 patients with symptomatic knee OA (Kellgren-Lawrence grades 1-3) were randomly assigned to LR-PRP or LP-PRP with 3 weekly injections
As a result, no differences between groups in absolute value or improvement in clinical scores were observed at all follow-up intervals
In conclusion, this double-blind randomized trial showed that 3 intra-articular LR-PRP or LP-PRP injections produced similar clinical improvement in patients with symptomatic knee OA at 12-month follow-up
