Food Safety Investigation Listeria incident

Cluster analysis by the Austrian Health and Food Safety Authority (AGES) found that 8 infections
have occurred since 2020 due to the same Listeria strain.
Three people died
between 2020 and 2022.

AGES will not provide any demographic details or annual case breakdowns for these patients, but said the investigation is ongoing, the samples are currently being sequenced whole-genome, and results are expected to be released
midweek this week.

Preliminary investigations have found that products produced by Käserei Gloggnitz in Lower Austria may be related to
the incident.
Products that have already been released are being recalled, and newly manufactured products will only be put on the market
after they test negative for listeria and have been approved by the food department.
Currently, the recalled products include kajmak (a type of cheese), yogurt and cream cheese products
