Arkema has announced that two of its new polyamide 11 powder coating grades have received UL Yellow Card certification for use in electric vehicle battery systems and other applications

It is understood that Rilsan polyamide 11 is a 100% bio-based multifunctional polymer derived from castor oil

According to Jerome Porte, global marketing manager at Arkema, the new grades were introduced to meet the special requirements of the H/EV market due to the limitations of traditional insulating materials such as epoxy resins

Arkema also offers a grade of Kepstan PEKK, an extremely high-performance polymer for electrical applications where temperatures are too high for other polymers
