Recently, the Ministry of Energy Infrastructure and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia has awarded a letter of grant (LoA) to a consortium of Fotowatio Renewable Venture (FRV) and FSL Solar to help realize the 55MW solar project
    .

The Masrik-1 project in Gegarkunik province in eastern Armenia, the first independent power project in Armenia to be tendered for, supported the development of
solar projects, the World Bank said.

The FRV and FSL consortium received a minimum tariff of $0.
    0419/kWh
among five qualified bidders in April.

"The Masrik-1 solar power plant is a pioneering project in Armenia and the South Caucasus, and an exciting opportunity
for the country to further develop its renewable energy potential," said Sylvie Bossoutrot, World Bank Country Manager for Armenia.
In addition, the open and competitive bidding process conducted by the government sets an example
for future investments in the country.

In 2014, the government identified utility-scale solar as a priority under the Renewable Energy Planning Investment Program (SREP), which provides a $2 million project preparation grant
    .
SREP and the World Bank also provide a guarantee tool to mitigate investment risks, attract international developers and increase competitiveness
    .

Five other potential solar projects in Armenia, with a total capacity of around 55MW, have been identified and prepared
with the support of SREP and the World Bank.
A second round of bidding for this capacity will also be launched in the near future, thanks to a series of ready-made negotiating contract documents
    .

In December last year, JinkoSolar supplied 3,700 polycrystalline modules
to Armenia's first 1 MW utility-scale photovoltaic power plant.
