AT&T announced that it plans to offer 1-Gbps FTTH in Austin, Texas, and that it wants to offer the same service
in the Triangle and Piedmont areas of North Carolina.
AT&T says it's delving into North Carolina's Next Generation Network (NCNGN), which helps offer U-verse triple-play services, including 1-Gbps GigaPower Internet access

AT&T's NCNGN plan includes building public Wi-Fi hotspots, free AT&T's U-verse to 100 public venues, and building a full fiber network connection to up to 100 commercial buildings

It also provides free 3-Mbps U-verse for
up to 3,000 households in 10 affordable housing communities.
