Energy Information Administration (EIA) said that the improvement in fuel efficiency of midsize cars in the next decade is expected to save motorists about $400/year compared to the current car fuel efficiency.
The sedan will be more than 53 mpg of gasoline by 2025, and the current fuel efficiency of 35 mpg will save 116 gallons of fuel
for a sedan with an annual range of 12,000 miles, EIA said.
The EIA also said that the fuel efficiency of diesel vehicles will not improve much in the next decade, and diesel vehicles will only save 10 gallons of diesel per year by 2025 compared to the current fuel efficiency of diesel
vehicles.
