Bahrain plans to use submarine cables to connect the Hawar Islands with mainland Bahrain, and a tender will be launched
    in November.

According to the plan, the submarine cable project, funded by the Saudi Development Fund, will connect to the northwestern region of Hawar from Ras Al Bar, Bahrain's southernmost point, with a total length of about 25 kilometers
    .

Work on the project is scheduled to begin in the first half of next year and be completed
in the last quarter of 2020.
The Bahrain Electricity and Water Authority has submitted a proposal
    on cable routing on Wednesday.

Bahrain said that parts of the Hawar Islands are being developed in accordance with Bahrain's national economic strategy for 2030, so the region's electricity supply needs to be upgraded to sustain development and meet demand
    .
The submarine cable was built to provide a solution to connect the Hawar Islands to the permanent grid, rather than relying on temporary generators
    .

Bahrain plans to promote the construction of
    the Hawar Islands through tourism.

On September 30, Shaikh Khalid instructed Southern Tourism to prepare a comprehensive project to ensure the operation of the Hawar Beach Hotel, attracting more tourists throughout the year as part of developing the island into a major tourist destination, mainly for tourists entering the kingdom in December, January and February
    .

According to the latest data released by local tourism companies, the number of guests at Hawar Beach Hotel was 4,312 from January to August 2018, an increase of 108%
from 2,078 in the same period in 2017.

Characterized by its pristine environment and unique species, the Hawar archipelago includes six main islands, plus more than 30 smaller islands with a total area of about 51.
    4 square kilometers
    .
The largest island, Hawar, has a maximum length of about 17 km and a maximum width of 3 km
