Brazil's pork exports will break records in 2020, exceeding 1 million tons for the first time, according to data released on January 5th by the Brazilian Society for Animal Protein (ABPA).
2020, Brazil's pork exports (fresh and processed products) were 1.021 million tons, up 36.1 percent year-on-year, while exports were $2.27 billion, up 42.2 percent year-on-year, Reuters reported.
December, Brazil's pork exports were 803,000 tonnes, up 5.6 per cent year-on-year, while exports were $191 million, up 4.1 per cent year-on-year.
, despite the impact of the new crown outbreak, the record-breaking volume of pork exports reflects strong world demand for Brazilian commodities last year.
2020 is the result of imports of large quantities of Brazilian pork from China, as well as the appreciation of the dollar against the real, which makes local products more competitive.
