Bharat Petroleum builds new ethanol plant in India

Recently, the Telangana state government of India announced that India’s Bharat Petroleum Company (BPCL) plans to spend 10 billion Indian rupees (about 134 million US dollars) to build an ethanol production plant in the state
.

It is reported that the production capacity of the proposed plant will reach 500,000 liters per day and will use grains as raw materials

The state government stated that due to the state’s current lack of ethanol, companies need to invest in a large ethanol plant to meet the government’s green fuel development goals
.

Once the plant is put into use, the BPCL plant will be able to help Telangana to achieve the goal of blending 20% ethanol in automotive fuels by 2025

According to BPCL, the company is currently building three second-generation ethanol plants in Odisha, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, each with a capacity of 100,000 liters per day

These plants will use rice straw and corn stalks as raw materials to produce ethanol
