    this time, Alan Nogliet, a researcher at the University of Bath in the UK, and his colleagues designed a micro-circuit that mimics ion channels that integrate and respond to primitive nerve stimuli in a similar way to biological neurons. The team then recreated the activity of individual hema neurons and respiratory neurons in a silicon chip. Using 60 electrical stimuli, they found that solid neurons produced electrical responses that were almost identical to biological neurons.
    researchers say respiratory neurons, such as those they modeled, are responsible for respiratory sinus arrhythmic disorders by coupling respiratory rhythms with heart rhythms. Loss of this coupling due to age or illness is a prognosis for sleep apnea and heart failure. They believe that a device that adapts to bioneeding like respiratory neurons may offer a potential treatment in the future.
