According to data from the Brazilian Fruit and Derivatives Producers and Exporters Association, in the first quarter of this year, Brazil exported 250,000 tons of fruit, a year-on-year increase of 2%, with sales of US$196 million, which remained basically stable
    .
Melon, lemon, mango and watermelon are the fruits with the most shipments from January to April 2022
    .
Melon exports increased by 4%, with 76,000 tons of fruit sold to the international market, with sales of US$47.

    .

The export volume of lemons was close to 37,000 tons, an increase of 20%, mainly due to the more attractive prices in the foreign market than in the domestic market
    .
In addition, countries such as Mexico, Colombia and Guatemala have stopped production, providing opportunities for more Brazilian lemon exports
    .
Another highlight of this growth was the opening of the Chilean market in the first month of the year
    .

Mangoes, the most exported fruit in 2021, saw a 9% increase in production this season, but fell 8% in value as heavy rains in the San Francisco Valley region, the main production center, directly affected the quality of the fruit
    .
Another crop whose yields were affected by the rain was grapes, with exports down 59% in volume and 61% in value
    .
Apple exports fell 52% in volume and 56% in value, with lower production due to drought in the producing areas being one of the factors that contributed to the decline in shipments
    .
The drought has also reduced fruit size, affecting exports
