Brazilian R&D institution develops submarine cable amplifiers
Recently, Brazilian R&D institution CPqD is developing an undersea cable amplifier
based on integrated photonics technology.
This submarine cable amplifier research and development project is funded by Funtec Resources and is expected to last for 3 years and is implemented
in cooperation with the Italian foundation CIFE.
The results will be brought to market
by Padtec.
The idea of developing submarine cable amplifiers is to meet the needs of submarine cable applications equipped with small, multi-size equipment and reduce operating costs
.
The submarine cable amplifier will operate with a bandwidth of 80 nanometers and can carry more than 200 channels, each with a capacity of 100Gbps
