Yang of the Beijing Concord Medical School of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and NIH looked at 11,478 women (45-69 years old); 36% are in pre-menomanovascular care and are participating in a national cancer screening program in 11 urban provinces in China and are predicted to have a higher risk of breast cancer.
    researchers used multiple logical regression analysis to assess the correlation between MD and risk factors by comparing the higher BI-RADS (Mammogram Reporting and Data System) category (Category 2, Class 3 or Category 4) with the lowest category (Type 1 BI-RADS). The researchers found that age, body mass index, weight, post-menoanth status, and equality were associated with lower MD, and that these associations were not affected by menotinal status.
    , the researchers observed only a long-term association between breastfeeding and lower MD in post-menotinal women (P interaction s 0.003). If a pre-menoanth woman has an immediate family member who has been diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 50, she may have a lower MD (P interaction s 0.061). The researchers also found that the effects of certain determined breast cancer risk factors on MD showed a similar direction in Chinese and Western women, supporting the hypothesis that MD represents cumulative exposure to breast cancer risk factors during life. The researchers say their findings help to understand the biological basis for the relationship between MD and breast cancer risk factors, and are useful for breast cancer prevention research in China.
