    BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua
) -- China has effectively curbed the spread of the virus in China by taking timely control measures and adjusting as appropriate in the early stages of the outbreak of the new coronavirus, according to a new report on the website of Imperial College London.
the Imperial College's New Crown Pneumonia Response Team reported that China had taken control measures such as school closures, travel restrictions and tracking close contacts to prevent further transmission of the new coronavirus, with very few confirmed cases reported. Moreover, after the first wave of outbreaks slowed, the focus of China's control strategy shifted to testing, quarantine and close monitoring of all inbound passengers, which played an important role in helping China keep confirmed cases low.
the researchers came to Chinese mainland conclusion by analyzing reports of new coronary pneumonia in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) from mid-January to March 31 this year.
researchers said the data showed that school closures, travel restrictions and tracking of close contacts had different effects on the provinces. For example, after the above-mentioned control measures were adopted in Hubei Province, the outbreak was controlled in most areas, and in the other five worst-affected provinces, the death rate and severity of patients with neo-crown pneumonia were low.
researchers point out that starting in March 2020, the number of imported cases will increase at the same time as the resulting burden, so the focus of control measures will shift to testing inbound passengers to further curb the spread of the new coronavirus. The
team concluded that early implementation and timely adjustment of control measures may be important to control the spread of neo-crown pneumonia and avoid its adverse consequences, and the latest study is expected to provide reference for new coronary pneumonia research in other countries and regions, as well as the development of policies to curb its spread.
June, Imperial College and Tsinghua University in China launched a joint workshop on the fight against neo-crown pneumonia, calling for global collaboration to address the new coronavirus and other global challenges. At the seminar, economists from both schools and experts in vaccine development and diagnosis shared their insights on the global impact of the new corona pneumonia and how to overcome the epidemic.
