By the end of 2020, Bulgaria's cumulative renewable energy generation capacity was about 1,800 MW, accounting for one-fifth of the country's total capacity, of which photovoltaic power plants accounted for 1,100 MW and wind power accounted for 700 MW.
According to the national strategic blueprint published on the parliament's website last year, Bulgaria plans to add another 2,645 MW of installed capacity by the end of 2030 through renewable energy sources, mainly photovoltaic power plants, which is in line with
the EU's green energy transition goals.
According to the plan, the share of energy from renewable sources in Bulgaria's total final consumption should reach 27.
1% by 2030, compared to the EU's target of 32%.
