On December 21, Cameroon's Minister of Research and Innovation signed a cooperation agreement
with India to increase potato production in Cameroon, the website Stop Talk.
The agreement will help Cameroon produce high-quality potato seeds, strengthen the skills of Kazakh researchers and growers, and promote local potato production with a view to achieving import substitution
.
Over the past decade, Cameroon's annual potato production has fluctuated between 220 000 and 400,000 tonnes, while national demand is estimated at 1 million tonnes
per year.
