As a member of the Silicon Module Super Alliance, Canadian Solar has established a joint venture with ET Energy to provide EPC services and supply modules
for IPP BioTherm Energy's 132MW PV project in South Africa.
The projects are located in northwest South Africa and cover an area of 387 hectares
.
The two solar plants are expected to be connected to the grid by the end of 2019 and early 2020, respectively, and construction
is expected to begin in September this year.
The projects will use more than 400,000 Canadian Solar Company's CS6U-P 1500V high-voltage modules mounted on a single-axis solar tracking system with a total of 34 central inverters
.
The chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar said this will be the first time Canadian Solar has supplied modules
to a large-scale project in Africa's high-voltage market.
It is understood that these PV projects were awarded as part of the fourth round of the
Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program (REIPPPP).
