A 34-year follow-up study conducted by the University of Eastern Finland showed that the combined effect of hypertension and fatty liver on mortality does not seem to exceed their respective effects

In the past century, the establishment of cardiovascular disease risk factors has shaped clinical practice

Individual cardiovascular risk factors have been extensively studied

The population-based study cohort included 1569 middle-aged Finnish men who participated in the Kuopio ischemic disease risk factor study

If two factors interact on a certain result, their coexisting influence will be greater or less than the sum of their respective influences

These findings indicate that fatty liver and hypertension, as risk factors for cardiovascular disease, may not be completely independent as previously thought
