A new study reveals that due to a ubiquitous additive in car tires, salmon in the Northwest Pacific can be sentenced to death if they return to spawning in rivers and streams near the city
These findings indicate that 6PPD quinone, a highly toxic oxidation product of tire rubber particles, can poison rivers and may be the observed annual cause of death of adult salmon populations throughout the Northwest Pacific in the United States
