    November 6, 2014, the 2014 DSM Special Research Fund Launch Conference and Symposium was held in Hefei. More than 140 nutrition science and technology workers from all over the country attended the conference.

    I, 2014 CNS-DSM Special Research Fund Release
    Conference by CNS-DSM Special Research Fund Expert Committee Chairman Professor Yin Fengying, China Nutrition Society Chairman Professor Yang Yuanxin and DSM (China) Nutrition Research and Development Center Director Dr. Chen Zhi. Professor Yang Yuxin spoke highly of the achievements of the fund and fully affirmed its important contribution to nutrition research and improvement of human nutritional health, especially for the training of young talents in the academic field, active academic atmosphere, played an important role in promoting, it has become a landmark event in China's nutrition field, become a young scholar in the academic community An important goal of career development, Dr. Chen said that the fund's work provides a good platform for cooperation between companies and nutrition experts and scholars, creates a good environment for new product development and the provision of nutrition solutions, and says he will continue to strongly support the Chinese Nutrition Society's exploration in the field of nutrition research, further promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, and contribute to the development of China's nutrition industry.
    Professor Yan Fengying introduced the application and evaluation of the fund: from late March to July 10, 2014, the Fund Management Office received 83 applications for projects from 22 provinces and municipalities, an increase of 42 from 2013, an increase of 102 per cent, and the highest number of tenders in four years. Of these, 62 were valid applications and 13 winning items were voted on by evaluation experts by a by-election expert in the form of a by-election from 62 tenders.     2014 Winning Project Represents Researcher Huang Zhenwu (China Center for Disease Control and Prevention Institute of Nutrition and Health) and Associate Professor Ma Fei (Tianjin Medical University School of Public Health) from the research background, basis, research objectives, The basic situation of the two projects, "Tracking observation of the health effects of vitamin D and calcium on the intervention of obese elderly men in China" and "DHA and its metabolites on the intervention study of the elderly population with mild cognitive impairment in the community", respectively, are introduced, and the relevant technical routes and expected results are shared, highlighting the characteristics and innovations of the project. For the rationality of the technical route, the level of the intervention dose, the dry expectation and so on, the experts and scholars put forward some suggestions, which provide a reliable basis for perfecting the technical route and improving the intervention.
    Fengying made a review of the work of the Fund in 2011-2013, with 21%, 39% and 34% of the funding received in 2011, 2012 and 2013, respectively. In 2011 and 2012, many projects have been completed, some projects have achieved some results, published high-quality papers, such as 2011 Ren Guo spectrum professor, Han Junhua researcher, 2012 Professor Zhang Caixia, Professor Qin Liqiang and so on.     III, Special Report
    This meeting selected four outstanding projects for academic exchange: the effects of polyunsaturated fatty acids on infant intellectual development (Professor Xie Lin, Jilin University); Professor Zhu Huilian, College; Relationship between long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid levels in pregnant women and fetal growth and development and their immune function (Professor Mao Limei, Southern Medical University); and effects of micronutrient supplementation on growth and development in children aged 0-5 years (Professor Zhang Caixia, School of Public Health, Zhongshan University). Four projects achieved satisfactory expected results: "The effects of choline on brain development and function and mechanism of irreversibility-delayed rats and their mechanisms" study found that dietary supplementation of choline may improve the learning and memory ability of intra-U.S. stunted mice; On the basis of sharing the results, the four professors made in-depth exchanges and discussions, evaluated the project results, introduced successful experiences, and discussed the future research direction of the relevant fields.

CNS-DSM Special Research Fund aims to promote the development of nutrition science and technology in China, promote the development of nutritious and healthy food, and is committed to funding projects that the nutrition industry in China urgently needs to study, and to serve nutrition science and technology innovation.
