On September 19, China Southern Power Grid Corporation successfully repaired an UHV converter transformer damaged for the first time in the world, saving 4 months of repair time, saving more than 10 million yuan in transportation costs, and setting a new record of applying 1254 kV DC withstand voltage to the converter site, indicating that China Southern Power Grid continues to maintain the international leading level
in the field of on-site maintenance of UHVDC equipment.
UHV commutation is the core equipment of UHVDC engineering, and is currently one of the world's largest transformers, the
most complex structure, the highest voltage level and the highest technical content.
The repaired commutation is applied to the Pu'er converter station
at the ± 800 kV Nuozhadu power transmission Guangdong DC project.
On December 26, 2013, the commutation fell during transportation, causing varying degrees of damage
to some core components.
In order to ensure that the Nuozhadu DC project was put into operation on schedule, China Southern Power Grid Corporation decided to replace the damaged equipment with a backup converter and implement on-site repair
of the damaged main equipment on the basis of a large number of demonstrations and scientific evaluation.
The company organized a number of scientific research subjects to jointly promote the progress of restoration work, and adopted a number of technical means to ensure the quality of
work.
After 8 months, the technicians successively overcame a number of technical difficulties such as large interference in the on-site acceptance environment and lack of professional repair tools, and completed the on-site repair work
.
For a long time, China Southern Power Grid Company has paid attention to strengthening the reserve and training of UHVDC technical talents, focusing on cultivating managers who can effectively manage the production and operation of UHV power grids, cultivating UHV power grid scientific and technological talents who can introduce, absorb, transform and tackle technical problems, and cultivating skilled personnel who can carry out UHV power grid production, operation and maintenance, and has formed a main equipment maintenance and technical supervision team
of 178 people.
Through this technical strength, the company successfully repaired the world's first independent repair of the West-to-East transmission channel Tianguang DC 500 kV commutation in 2004
.
In 2016, the company will also build an UHV test and maintenance base to provide a technical platform
for the growth of technical talents in DC key equipment testing, monitoring, maintenance and on-site management.
