Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission officially approved China Unicom to pilot the construction of 5G networks in 12 cities including Beijing, Tianjin and Qingdao, and Shandong Unicom became the only communication operator in Shandong to carry out 5G pilots, and the network pilot work was first launched
in Qingdao in March.
In order to accelerate the pilot project of 5G communication network, Shandong Unicom has further increased investment in communication equipment and supporting facilities, and R&D expenses for the networking construction of 5G wireless network, transmission network, core network and service platform, and is expected to open the first 5G base station in Shandong Province in the second half of 2018, and complete all pilot work
in 2019.
Shandong Unicom's pilot project will be divided into several stages

The first phase focuses on eMBB (enhanced mobile broadband) and URLLC (ultra-reliable and ultra-low latency) services
