China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced on the 22nd that China’s Bohai Sea has made another major oil and gas discovery, the Bozhong 13-2 oil and gas field, with proven geological reserves of 100 million tons of oil and gas equivalent.

CNOOC stated that this discovery has further consolidated the foundation of China's offshore oil and gas resource reserves, and is of great significance to the stability and production of offshore oil and gas fields and the protection of national energy security.

It is understood that the Bozhong 13-2 oil and gas field is located in the central waters of the Bohai Sea, about 140 kilometers away from Tianjin, with an average water depth of about 23.

Zhou Xinhuai, General Manager of CNOOC Exploration Department, said that the discovery of the Bozhong 13-2 oil and gas field has achieved a major breakthrough in the exploration of "covered" buried hills in the Bohai Sea.

In order to realize the efficient conversion of reserves, CNOOC has innovatively applied the integrated management model of exploration and development, using existing oilfield facilities to quickly promote the construction of well areas, and the exploratory wells are directly converted into production wells for test production, which not only reduces drilling costs, but also increases oil and gas Yield.

Zhou Xinhuai introduced that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the Bozhong 13-2 oil and gas field will continue to promote the deployment and implementation of the overall development plan and become an important force for the Bohai oil field to produce 40 million tons.

In recent years, CNOOC has promoted the "seven-year action plan" for increasing reserves and production.

According to reports, after the Bozhong 13-2 oil and gas field is put into operation, it will cooperate with the Bohai 19-6 condensate gas field and other producing oil and gas fields to lay a solid foundation for the Bohai Oilfield’s efforts to build the country’s largest crude oil production base, and further give full play to the impact of offshore oil and gas production.
