B/F/TAF is safe, effective, and highly compliantPost-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), as an important component of HIV prevention strategies, provides an opportunity for emergency disruption for people at high risk of HIV exposure and is now widely used
In this issue, we invited Professor Sun Lijun from Beijing You'an Hospital, affiliated to Capital Medical University, to interpret the results
The study, conducted from May 2021 to February 2022 at the AIDS Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Beijing You'an Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University, included a total of 112 adult HIV-negative subjects
All subjects received B/F/TIF as PEP protocol, and the average (SD) age of the subjects was 30 (±8) years, of which 97.
Figure Study design
During the 28-day PEP period, 2 subjects stopped PEP due to a negative HIV test result of their partner, and 2 subjects withdrew
During the 24-week follow-up period, no subjects developed HIV serological impotence
In terms of safety, only 5 participants developed mild headache, diarrhea, or nausea, which resolves spontaneously without stopping PE
.
Our study showed that B/F/TAF, as a PEP regimen, was well tolerated, helped the inquirer to complete a complete PEP for 28 days to a standard and was highly effective with no serologic conversion
in the subjects.
It is well demonstrated that B/F/TIF is a PEP protocol
for high-risk groups in China.
In addition, our findings were presented at this AIDS conference, which not only showcases the achievements of our Chinese doctors and researchers in HIV prevention, but also inspires
the choice of PEP programs in other countries and regions.
