On June 13, China's first commercial medium-speed maglev train independently developed was successfully rolled off the line
in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province.
The train is currently the fastest short stator maglev train in the world, with a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour and a maximum capacity of 500 passengers
.
In September 2016, the Hunan Provincial Government and the National University of Defense Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement to carry out technical research on a new generation of medium-speed maglev transportation system on the platform of the Hunan Maglev Technology Research Center
.
The successful roll-off of the medium-speed maglev train is the most critical landmark achievement
of this technical research.
The medium-speed maglev train that rolled off the line this time is independently developed, designed and produced
in accordance with commercial operation standards.
The train short stator induction linear motor traction, constant conductivity magnetic suction suspension, 3 sections, its running track, power supply system, signal control system are fully compatible
with the existing medium and low speed maglev.
The maximum speed of the train is designed to run at 160km/h, and the original 100km/h medium and low-speed maglev is raised to the medium-speed speed range (160km/h~250km/h).
A series of research and development of technical research and development in parallel with trains include: research and development of new power supply rails, rail rows, turnouts, communication signals, suspension control and bridge prefabricated structures of medium-speed maglev, basic research and test verification of the two major problems of medium-speed maglev rail coupling and shoe rail coupling, the preparation of medium-speed maglev technical standards, and the research
on further reducing the engineering cost of maglev projects and enhancing market competitiveness.
So far, the overall research and development progress of the medium-speed maglev transportation system has been completed by about 75%, and it is expected that the medium-speed maglev train will be tested and verified on the Changsha Maglev Express around August, and all the research and development work of the entire medium-speed maglev transportation system will be completed within the year, which is expected to become the world's first medium-speed maglev transportation system
for commercial operations.
