    Recently, the team for the discovery and innovative utilization of excellent rice germplasm resources from the Institute of Crop Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, under the support of the International Large Science Program (G2P), cooperated with the International Rice Research Institute to associate 185 wild rice and 743 cultivated rice varieties.


    According to researcher Yang Qingwen, rice is a global staple food, and rice varieties grown in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia were domesticated from its wild ancestors


    The study selected 185 wild rice and 743 cultivated rice varieties from 33 major rice-growing regions in the world, identified 131 regions with strong selection signals, and collected the average temperature and temperature in May and August over the past 68 years.
