    Chinese companies contract 5 MW of solar energy projects in Afghanistan

    Recently, Chinese company Shuangdeng Group signed a contract with Afghanistan's Ministry of Energy and Water (MEW) to build a 5 MW solar project
    in the central region.

    According to a government source, the project will cost US$10.
    8 million and will provide electricity to 20,000 households
    .

    The solar project is expected to be completed
    within 12 months.

    Back in May, Shuangdeng also installed a 40-megawatt hybrid solar project
    from the Ministry of Water and Power in the eastern province of Nangarhar.

    In September, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) signed an agreement with the Afghan government to design and tender for a 40-megawatt solar power plant, setting a new model for follow-on projects and supporting the country's 2GW solar project target
