Aquatic Biology Research Institute, the State Investment and Development Corporation Microalgae Biotechnology Center and Jinan University researchers composed of a joint team, recently achieved ultra-high density microalgae culture, breaking through the key bottleneck of large-scale industrialization of microalgae applications.

The researchers of the above-mentioned joint team studied an oil-rich algae that can be cultured by hetero-culture, and achieved the ultra-high density culture of the oil-rich algae through process optimization, especially the breakthrough of the key technology of precise glucose concentration control. The results showed that under the enlarged conditions of laboratory and pilot fermentation tanks, the maximum cell dry weight of algae reached 286 grams per liter and 283.5 grams, respectively.
